About Us

Giving broken lives new direction… Setting free and changing lives!

Who are we?

Asha Bhawan Nepal is an NGO committed to restoring broken lives, especially those on the slippery slope of homelessnes and addiction. For that purpose we offer a safe, structured environment for making a fresh start in life for all those wanting to rebuild their lives. Our residents often compare it to an extended family. It’s a place where hurting people feel accepted, where they are enabled to help themselves and gradually rebuild self-dignity.

We receive referrals of men from a number of different agencies including: homeless hostels nation-wide, local Community Groups, Police, NGOs working in the field of alcohol and substance abuse, and social workers from several organizations, as well as families and private individuals.

Where are we?
We opened our first base in Nepal, in the outskirts of Kathmandu, in 2009. During the last 6 years we have expanded to three different cities. Together, Asha Bhawan residences in Thankot and Pokhara host more than 50 men in an alcohol, drug, and tobacco-free environment.

Commitment and Funding
Asha Bhawan is committed to continue offering hope and hospitality to the neediest men and women of India, at no additional cost to government or families. In Asha Bhawan we firmly believe that entrance should be accessible to everyone, regardless of financial means. Our centres do not charge fees. Instead, we aim to be self-supporting and sustainable as much as possible, shifting the financial burden from the individual, his family and society. The majority of funding for daily operations is generated through our charitable businesses and farms. Additional funding comes from the donations we receive from individuals, collaborating companies, government and private institutions, and other NGOs.

As homelessness and substance abuse continue to escalate in our nation, Asha Bhawan is committed to expanding into every city in Nepal. As you get to know us better we would like to invite you in joining efforts with us in this great project of building a better future for the next generation in our country.
